This Is My “Someday”

Life Opportunities Come Our Way.

Timing is important. Change happens.

I was working as a school social worker in Virginia and enjoyed that work, but I also wanted to support people outside of the school system, so I opened a part-time private practice. The people who came my way were incredible. I was so thankful and felt a deep sense of gratitude for the time we were able to work together.

Life got busy, and I realized I was doing too much and needed to set some boundaries. I needed to set some priorities for other things I was doing. So, I chose to let my private practice go and promised myself “to come back to it someday,” and NOW is my SOMEDAY.

My focus is primarily on working with women and children. We all have times in our lives when we realize we need to make some changes, gain new skills, learn what is going on inside us, and possibly create changes. We may need some information on resources in the area. We may need to “talk” and be heard to find the answers inside of ourselves.

Children are often faced with situations they, too, may need to explore and develop skills needed to navigate this life. We are never too young to learn some skills that can help us deal with life, ADHD, anxiety, or how to handle bully-type behaviors from others. We are never too young to explore our basic needs in life, learn to identify them, and find healthy ways to meet each need.

No one is an island.

The type of help we need will vary. Sometimes parents need help navigating “the system” to find services for their children. Maybe help is needed to explore options. This can take time, and some guidance can often help us get through the “maze” we may discover.

Parents of children with special needs may need support and understanding. Any family with an individual with special needs is unique. Each person in the family will react and respond to the “special needs” in their own way. At times this can be difficult. There is help and hope.

I feel grateful to share with you that NOW is my Someday. After retiring from my school job and a couple of years off, I am ready to begin private practice again. If I can help you, feel free to call my office number and leave me a message: 540-385-4082. At this time, I do not accept insurance, but I may next year. We can talk about a sliding scale if needed. My clinical license is valid only in Virginia. You may also email me at: wendyswenson@proton.me

May you find what you are looking for and live the life you dream of living.

This website and the blogs I post clearly state this is not the place for therapy, but now I can offer that space. If this is of interest to you and if you feel this may be helpful.

We can do a brief consultation call and explore options. I can only provide therapy services in the state of Virginia.

Welcome to my “someday,” and thank you for letting me share this with you.
