What a beautiful sunrise today! How lovely to look outdoors and smile.
Some days it can be hard to get going. On other days we wake with a pep in our step. Each day is a gift, if we see it that way or not. We can sometimes choose how to see the day and be real, and sometimes we cannot choose without some help. There is nothing wrong with getting help. You are worth it, so if you need a hand today, please find it. Be open to how it may come to you too. So many things and situations can impact our feelings, including our habits, eating and sleeping, hormones, thoughts, past and present, self-care…so many things!
But this song remains true anyway!
The words in this song (link below) by Amy Grant is like a prayer for me:
Greet The Day
Amy Grant
Lead me to the ones I need
And to the one who’s needing me.
I won’t assume the worst is true,
And do the best that I can do.
A word of kindness, I believe,
Is heard throughout eternity…
Hey, hey
This is how I greet the day,
I greet the day…
Lead me to the ones I need
And to the one who’s needing me.
And everything that gets me through
Gladly, I receive from You.
All the mercy, all the love,
Pouring down to fill us up…
Hey, hey
This is how I greet the day,
I greet the day…
Hello sunshine
Hello rain
Glad to see you,
Either way
Lead me to the ones I need
And to the one who’s needing me
Hey, hey
This is how I greet the day,
I greet the day
Come on, greet the day
Let’s greet the day
Hello sunshine
Hello rain
Hello every single day
Lead me to the ones I need
And to the one who’s needing me.
I won’t assume the worst is true,
And do the best that I can do.

Can you see any of The 5 Needs in this song?
- I see staying alive, of course. Not so easy for some people due to mental or physical or even spiritual difficulties, pain, and suffering.
- I see Love and Belonging; as we love ourselves, we can love others. We can find where we belong, and what our gifts are, and as we say, “Lead me to the ones I need and to the one who’s needing me,” we can find ways to love and be loved too.
- There is great freedom in starting a day with this song. I see boundaries here, too, in being focused and open to what may come simultaneously.
- There is power in knowing how you are and, in the lines, “I won’t assume the worst is true,
And do the best that I can do.” There is power too in: “Gladly, I receive from You. All the mercy, all the love, Pouring down to fill us up…” - I find joy and fun in the attitude, the purity of the song.
May we each greet this day, enjoy our time with ourselves and others and stay alert, aware, and attentive so that this can be true for each of us: Lead me to the ones I need And to the one who’s needing me.
Such potential for each of us as we Greet The Day this way!
Today, let’s greet the day with mindful joy and thankfulness.
